For now we set up business accounts by hand, with the owner's own branding and invitations for their tutors. A dedicated space for running that team is planned, without losing what makes Tuvor work for each tutor inside it. If that's where you're headed, we'd love to build it with you.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a credit card to start?
Yes, your card is captured at signup, but new tutors start with a 14-day free trial before they're ever charged, and founding members get 30 days. Full platform access from day one and no long-term contract. You can cancel anytime before your trial ends and you won't be charged. Cancelling ends your access straight away, including any trial days you have left. We use PayFast for secure South African payment processing: card, EFT, and more.
Can I add university students, not just high school?
Yes. Tuvor supports both high school (Grades 8–12) and undergraduate university students. Each student type has its own profile fields.
Do students need to pay to use Tuvor?
No. Students get free access to their own student hub, and only tutors pay the monthly subscription. Parents and guardians don't need an account at all. For school learners, a linked parent or guardian gets a summary email of sessions, notes and progress each Monday after any week with a completed session. For school learners, there's also a one-time consent step for their parent or guardian before the first session can be booked.
Does Tuvor work for in-person tutoring?
Yes. Set your default format, or each session's format individually, to online, in person, or both. Session notes, homework, payments, and parent/guardian reports work the same either way. You only use the built-in video rooms when you want them.
Is there a setup fee or contract?
No setup fee, no contracts. It's R249/month. Cancel anytime from Settings → Subscription in your dashboard. If automatic cancellation isn't available when you try, email support@tuvor.co.za and we'll cancel your subscription manually within 1 business day.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your dashboard access ends as soon as your subscription is cancelled. If you need a copy of your data, email support@tuvor.co.za before cancelling and we'll help you export it.
Does Tuvor track student progress over time?
Yes. Beyond session notes and homework tracking, students build a personal streak for consistency and earn badges when their tutor rates a topic as a strong grasp. It all shows on their own Achievements page, with no ranking against other students.
